Genre Analysis
The Genre of the artists music I am studying is pop this is a genre of popular music that originated in its modern form in the United States and United Kingdom during the mid-1950s. The terms "popular music" and "pop music" are often used to describe music from the pop genre, although it describes all music that is popular and includes many styles. The pop genre originated from rock and roll and folk which together creates pop music. "Pop" and "rock" were roughly synonymous terms until the late 1960s, when they became increasingly differentiated from each other. This would explain why Elvis Presley was classified as belonging to the pop genre in the 1950s as pop and rock were referred to as similar genres. Pop music is electric, and often borrows elements from other styles such as urban, dance, rock, latin, and country. Sub-genres within pop music are dance pop, power pop, euro pop and many more.

Codes and Conventions of Pop Music Videos
A typical convention for pop music is that they always portrayed to wear fashionable and stylish clothes. The artists mostly wears designer labels which suggest wealth. Female artists in music videos tend to have a lot of heavy make up on to showcase their appearance. Pop music videos are mostly likely to have a narrative which express how the artist feels and makes links to their own lives. The lyrics of pop songs usually are based around love and relationships from past experiences. Also, typically in pop music videos there are links between the lyrics and the video which relate to one another. In pop, artists are expressed in a very sexual and seductive way, trying to lure the audience in and appeal to the target audience. Pop videos tend to use lots of different locations which is a typical convention for pop, examples are lively cities, party environments and many more. ​Overall pop music videos are very upbeat and light-hearted to appeal to its generally younger audience.
