Music Video Analysis
Setting and Props
There are multiple settings in this music video but they are all based in a busy city which links to the pop genre which is the genre that my music video will be. This links to the stereotypes of pop genre music videos as they like to show the main artists off in different settings and like to have a story to the video. For example, in this video the main artist Camilla and Machine are displayed in abandoned areas which could link to the narrative of the video that they are sneaking around and possibly on the run from society. A prop that is used in the video is a rose held by Camilla which is typical prop used to suggest a sign of love and affection. Another prop used in this video is vehicles, they are typically used in music videos especially pop videos because they show movement, time passing, can mean there are a lot setting changes and dramatic scenes.
Facial Expressions and Body Language
The facial expressions and body language change depending on the character that is being displayed and the mood they are portraying. The male artist in this video is shown as dominant over the female artist which is stereotypical in society and resembles how men and women are viewed in society and how it is wrong that one gender has more power over the other. This is shown in the video by Machine always standing over Camilla, which is demonstrated by him having a straight posture and him looking down at her. Also,a lot of the characters emotions can be read from their facial expressions and body language. For example, in this video it shows that they are both in a broken relationship with each other as they use a lot of gestures where they run there hands through there hair or hold there heads which suggest frustration or upset.
Lighting and Colour
The lighting and colour used in this video is primarily dark lighting which could be to reflect on there relationship and how it is complicated and they are both broken from it. Also, it is based in a city at night time which means there are bright city lights but apart from light there is very little light. A lit fire is used as a main source of light in a scene in the video which illuminates the area which highlights the artists facial expressions and movement. The colours used in this video are mainly dark which combining with lighting allows the audience to understand the narrative on the video and the mood it sets.

Positioning of Characters in the Frame
The positioning of Machine in the frame is demonstrated by him always standing over Camilla which could suggest his power in there relationship. However, Camilla is usually centre of the frame which suggests her importance in the video. This also shown by a lot of close up shots on Camilla which allows us to see her facial features and expressions.

Costume, Hair and Make-Up
Pop music videos typically have a lot of costume and hair changes to show the artist off in a lot of different lights. In this video, Camilla has five outfit changes which is conventional for pop music. Which could suggest that the music and fashion industries are constantly changing and is used as a tool for advertising the artist as well as the clothes. Whereas, Machine has three outfit changes which works with the conventions as it is more conventionally for the female artist to have more different outfit changes. This is because in this video Camilla is seen not just as an artist but also a fashion icon.
Facial Expressions and Body Language
Taylor Swift uses very serious and formal facial expressions to portray the dark undertones in this video. Her body language consists of short sharp motions to represent her mood which suggest she has released her hidden anger from recent events that have happened to her. This is demonstrated by her contorting her face to show her angry emotion. She also rolls her eyes a lot which implies she is frustrated and irritated by the situations around her.
Setting and Props
There are many setting changes in this video which is a stereotypical convention for pop music video. All the settings used in this video are very high profile for example, mansions and red carpets. The props used in the video consist of jewellery, cars, flashing cameras and a music award. The use of the jewellery and the cars suggest that she owns a lot of money. Whereas, the flashing cameras suggest she is in the public eye and very popular. Also, she is showing off her 'Grammy' award which suggest she is bragging about her music success.

Costume, Hair and Make-up
Taylor has many costume changes throughout the video, in total she has twelve main outfit changes. This is stereotypical for the pop genre because it shows they have a lot of money invested into making a pop video as it is one of the most popular music genres. Her make-up in one part of the video is quite dark around her eyes and she has bright red lips which helps her facial features to stand out more. Also, it could suggest that her make-up could represent her emotion and if so could imply she is feeling quite alone and broken so is standing up for herself and fighting back.

Lighting and Colour
The lighting used in this video varies throughout the duration of the video. For example, in the first scene the lighting is very dim as it is a dark scene however when she is in the car there are lots of flashing lights because of the cameras so it is a might brighter scene. The colours used in this video i would say are mainly dark because they are to represent how the artist/character is feeling and in this case she is portraying off that she is very angry and emotional about certain circumstances that have recently happened to her and are showcased in this video.
Look what you made me do- Taylor Swift
Positioning of characters in the frame
In this video, Taylor is always centre of the frame this is to symbolise she is the main attraction of the video as she is the celebrity and the artist. This also shows how she has power within the video and the music industry. Lastly, it represents how the artist would be centre of attention in the pop music industry as well as in her videos.
Facial Expressions and Body Language
Demi has a mixture of facial expressions throughout the video because she is displaying different emotions and different parts of the video. For example, in parts of the video she is smiling and her face is glowing which suggests she is enjoying herself as she is having a party and is surrounded by all her friends. On the other hand, in parts of the video she is acting sassy which is shown through her facial expressions and her hand gestures. This is also shown by her body language as in one clip she faces the camera straight on, stands in centre of the frame and places her hands on her hips which suggests her sassiness.
Setting and Props
The setting is based at a house party and stays the same throughout the whole video. This is a typical setting for the pop genre and for Demi because it is relatable for her fans as they are at the age where they would attend and enjoy house parties. This makes the video appealing for her fans as they would like to see what Demi is like at a house party. The props used in the video are alcohol cans/cups and swimming inflatables. The alcoholic drinks are typical for a music videos as it is viewed as an important part of being an adult and is used for socialising.
Lighting and Colour
The lighting is very bright throughout the duration on the video which works with the location of where the video is set and the artist belonging to the pop genre. In the video, the use of strobe lighting is used a lot because it is creating the atmosphere of a house party and strobe lighting is a big factor that makes the parties atmosphere. The colour also in the video is very bright colours, from the bright clothing to the props it showcases the enjoyment that is happening in this video and how the song is light-hearted. A lot of colour in this video is neon colours which again links to the party atmosphere.
Sorry not sorry- Demi Lovato
Positioning of characters in the frame:
In the video, Demi when she is in the frame is always centre of the frame this is to show she is the main artist and therefore the centre of attention for the audience. However, she isn't always in the frame which is unusual for pop music videos as they always like to have the main artist always on camera. This shows that in this sense this video breaks the stereotypical conventions.

Costume, Hair and Make-up
In this video, like all pop genre music video the main artist has lots of costume. Demi has a total of three outfit changes which for a pop music video is quite a small amount as they always like to have as many changes as possible. Most of the outfits Demi wears in this video are quite revealing which is a convention for pop music as they are always in the limelight so want to make themselves appealing to the audience especially the male audience from the revealing clothing. She has her hair down and up in different parts of the video, when her hair is down it allows us to her facial features better.
